UK Trade imbalance affecting Logistics

The increased level of exports out of the UK combined with reduced imports from Germany, Poland and other European destination has created a shortage and subsequently a high demand for trailers available for exports from the UK.

As a result trailer operators are increasing Eastbound rates. This has been further exasperated with the banks becoming more aggressive in demanding repayments for loans taken out before the recession took hold which has forced some Czech, Polish and Romanian trailer operators out of business.

The effects of this has lead to increased lead times, in some cases up to 5 days depending on the export destination and the only guarantee of securing equipment at shorter notice is increased rates.

GBA’s freight forwarders are constantly in contact with not only shipping lines and trailer operators, but also their customers to keep them abreast of the fluid situation in the market to enable customers to account for the volatile market conditions. Offering a one-stop-shop to customers, GBA look to offer the best all round solution to meet their customer’s needs.
